How Much Does Ceramic Coating Cost in Omaha?

Ceramic coating pricing gets murky fast in this market. Some Omaha shops won't post a number at all, some quote a flat rate no matter what rolls in, and some bury the real cost in an "estimate" you only see after they've looked at the car. We put ours on the board. Four durability tiers, each with a fixed studio price, and the only variable is prep.

So let's start with the tiers.

Ceramic coating prices by durability tier

We coat at four levels through the Invictus ceramic coating program, using Obsidian coatings and the Forged Coatings Warranty Program. The tier you pick decides how many years the coating is rated for and how much of the vehicle it covers.

Those are the coating prices for a vehicle in reasonable shape. If the paint needs correction first, that gets added on top, and I'll explain why in a second. Two smaller add-ons worth knowing about: a windshield coating runs $100, and it makes rain sheet off the glass so your wipers do less work in a Nebraska downpour. And if you want the coating on but you're not sure which tier, that's a five-minute phone call, not a sales pitch.

What actually drives the price

The tier is the biggest lever, but it's not the only one. Four things move the final number.

Durability tier

This is the obvious one. A 2-year coating at $600 uses a shorter-life product and covers the painted body. The 7-year at $1,500 uses a harder, longer-lasting coating and, at the top tiers, wraps in more surfaces. You're paying for years on the clock and for coverage.

Paint condition and prep

Here's the part most shops don't explain. A coating is glass-clear. It locks in exactly what's underneath it. If your clear coat has swirl marks, wash scratches, or hazing from years of automatic car washes, the coating seals those in and makes them permanent for its whole lifespan. So before any coating goes on, the paint gets a triple decontamination and a polish to level the surface. A daily driver that's been hand-washed comes in clean and needs little. A trade-in that lived at the tunnel wash down the street needs real correction.

Whether paint correction is needed

When the paint needs more than a light polish, we do paint correction at the studio at $100 per hour, quoted after we see the panels under proper lighting. A single-stage cut on a decent car might be an hour or two. A neglected black car with deep swirls can run longer. We tell you the range before we start, and you decide. Nobody adds correction hours without your say-so.

Vehicle size and condition

A two-door coupe has less surface area than a full-size SUV, and a garage-kept car takes less prep than one that's sat outside through three Omaha winters. Both nudge the number. Size affects material and labor. Condition affects how much correction the paint needs before it's ready.

What's included at each tier

Every ceramic coating we do, at every tier, starts the same way. A full wash, a triple decontamination that pulls out iron, tar, and bonded road film, and a polish to prep the surface. Then the coating goes on the painted panels. That's the floor.

The longer tiers add coverage. The 5-year and 7-year coatings extend onto plastics, wheels, and glass, not just the paint. They also come with free hand washes every three months to keep the coating performing, and they carry the $4,000 paint-protection warranty through the Forged Coatings Warranty Program. That warranty covers the paint against specific failures for the coating's rated life, as long as maintenance stays current. The 2-year and 3-year tiers are product-backed and cover the body paint, which is plenty for a lot of daily drivers.

The reason the warranty matters in this climate is simple. Road salt off I-80 and the county roads, UV baking the hood all summer, and gravel dust off Hwy 370 all attack unprotected clear coat. A warranty-backed coating gives you a paper trail if something goes wrong, and it gives us a reason to build the job right the first time.

Why we coat at the Bennington studio, not your driveway

We're a mobile shop for most of what we do. Detailing, oil, glass, all of it comes to your driveway. Ceramic coating is the exception, and it's on purpose.

A coating cures on the paint. While it flashes and sets, a single speck of dust, a gust of pollen, or a stray bug landing on a wet panel gets locked into the finish. You can't wipe it off later. Coating outdoors in Nebraska, where the wind rarely stops and there's always something in the air, is asking for contamination. So we do every coating at the detail studio at 12722 N 158th Street in Bennington, in a controlled bay with clean lighting and no weather. If you're across the metro, we offer pickup and drop-off where available, so you still don't have to sit in a waiting room. Plenty of our coating customers come from across Omaha and never see the drive.

What it costs to keep the coating alive

A coating isn't a one-time purchase you forget about. It's a surface that needs the right kind of washing to hit its rated years. The good news is that correct washing is easier, not harder, than what you're probably doing now.

Skip the brush tunnels. Those spinning brushes drag grit across the coating and dull it early. A gentle hand wash with a pH-neutral soap every couple of weeks keeps it slick and glossy. Beyond that, you have two ways to keep it maintained.

• An annual maintenance wash at $250. Once a year we decontaminate the vehicle, inspect the coating, and top it so it keeps sheeting water and resisting salt film.
• The Lifetime Wash Club at $50 per month. This one keeps the coating guaranteed for the life of the vehicle. You bring it in, we keep it washed correctly, and the coating stays under warranty for as long as you own the car.

If you're the type who'll actually keep up with a proper hand wash at home, the annual maintenance wash is likely all you need. If you'd rather never think about it, the wash club takes it off your plate and protects the warranty at the same time.

When a cheaper tier makes more sense

I'll say the quiet part out loud. Not everyone should buy the 7-year coating. If you lease and you're turning the car in inside of two or three years, paying $1,500 for seven years of protection you won't be around for doesn't add up. The 2-year at $600 gets you the gloss, the easy washing, and the salt resistance for the time you'll actually have the car.

Same goes for an older daily driver you plan to run into the ground. You don't need a $4,000 paint-protection warranty on a car you'll drive until it dies. A shorter tier protects the paint that's there and keeps wash day quick without overpaying for years you won't use. The longer tiers earn their price on a vehicle you're keeping five years or more, or a car you care about looking sharp. Match the tier to how long you'll own it, and you won't overspend.

One more honest note. Ceramic coating and paint protection film solve different problems. A coating is about gloss, easy cleaning, and chemical and UV resistance. It does not stop rock chips. If your real worry is the sandblasting your front bumper takes on I-80, film is the answer for the front end, and a lot of people run both, film on the impact zones and coating over the rest.
